Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Glass Jar

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon coarse black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

Prep the Base

  • Get your clean mixing bowl ready. Scoop the mayonnaise into the center of the bowl. Make sure you get every last bit. The mayo must be fresh and cold.

Add Liquid Ingredients

  • Slowly pour the apple cider vinegar into the bowl. Add the fresh lemon juice right after that. These liquids will help thin the mayo. It makes the sauce easy to pour.

Mix in the Spices

  • Add the salt and black pepper now. Sprinkle the sugar and cayenne pepper on top. Add the garlic and onion powder as well. These spices create the amazing flavor profile.

Add the Horseradish

  • Measure the prepared horseradish very carefully. Drop it into the bowl with the other items. This ingredient adds the famous Southern kick. It makes the sauce taste authentic.

Whisk Until Smooth

  • Use your whisk to stir everything together well. Use a circular motion for the best results. Keep mixing until the sauce looks very creamy. There should be no lumps at all.

Taste and Adjust

  • Take a small spoon and taste the sauce. Add more pepper if you want more spice. Add a bit more vinegar for extra tang. Make it perfect for your own taste.

Chill the Sauce

  • Pour the sauce into your glass jar. Put the jar in the fridge for one hour. This allows the flavors to blend together perfectly. Cold sauce tastes much better on hot meat.
