Ingredients

  • 1 lb White American Cheese cubed
  • 1/2 cup Whole Milk
  • 4 oz Diced Green Chiles one small can
  • 1 tbsp Jalapeno Juice
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

Instructions

Prep the Cheese

  • Cut your American cheese into small cubes. Small pieces melt much faster. You can also grate the cheese for a smoother melt.

Warm the Milk

  • Place your saucepan over a low heat. Pour the milk into the pan. Let it get warm but do not boil it.

Melt the Cheese

  • Add the cheese cubes to the warm milk. Stir the mix constantly with your whisk. Watch the cheese turn into a smooth liquid.

Add the Flavors

  • Dump in the green chiles and jalapeno juice. Stir them into the cheese. This adds the famous Tijuana Flats flavor.

Season the Dip

  • Add the cumin and the garlic powder. Stir well so there are no lumps. Taste it to see if it needs salt.

Serve it Hot

  • Pour the queso into a warm bowl. Serve it with salty tortilla chips immediately. Enjoy your delicious homemade treat!
